Biography* Harold R. Koch, 1917-1996:
Harold was the only child of Herman and Tillie Koch. All that is known about Harold's father Herman, who died when Harold was about two-years-old, is that he was born in Illinois. Harold's mother Tillie was a first generation German-American and had a sixth grade education. She raised Harold by herself and never remarried. In 1920, Harold and his mother were boarding with Barbara Arndt at 3742 Irving Avenue in Chicago's 26th ward. Tillie had no occupation. In 1930 they were renting at 1542 Addison Avenue, a duplex in the 47th ward, for $27/month. Tillie was working as a marker in a department store. By 1935, Harold and his mother were renting at 1500 Henderson Street (a duplex) in the 45th ward for $16/month. Tillie had no income in 1939 and had worked 32-hours the week-ending 31 March 1940 doing housework. Harold worked as an office clerk for WPA Administration. He worked 16-weeks in 1939 and earned $260.

Harold, 78, died on a Thursday.

Biography* Sara A. Lamberty Mulcahy Ganser, 1890-1987:
Sara was a first generation German-Norwegian-American. Her father was born in Germany, her mother in Norway. In 1900, the youngest of three and the second daugher, Sara, her parents and siblings were lving in Roxbury township, Dane County. After their 1909 marriage, Dennis and Sara lived on a farm near Dane. Circa 1911, they moved to Clifton in Monroe County where they lived for nineteen years before returning to a farm in Roxbury township, Dane County. In the fall of 1935 they returned, once again, to Clifton. After the death of husband Dennis in 1936, Sara moved to Prairie du Sac in Sauk County and in 1946, at age 56, married Louis Ganser, age 67, a retired bachelor farmer. She was a member Saint Aloysius Roman Catholic church.

Sara, 97 (Sara's 1946 marriage record lists her birth date as 24 March 1892. Her obit and tombstone list it as 21 March 1893. The Social Security Death Index lists it as 24 March 1890, which is the date we have used), died on a Wednesday at Maplewood Nursing Home. She was survived by daughter Martha Hein of Madison; five-grandchildren, seven-great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Sara was predeceased by two-husbands, a sister and a brother. Private funeral services were held on Thursday at Gnewikow Funeral Home, Sauk City with the Rev Kent Schmitt, a nephew, officiating. She was buried with her first husband Dennis Mulcahy.
