Biography* Edith Celia Pulvermacher Whiteis, 1887-1943:
Edith was probably born on the family farm in Bear Creek township, Sauk County. She was christened as Ida Laura Pulvermacher on 16 January 1887 at Saint Luke's in Plain. Her sponsors were Johann Wartle and her aunt Ida Pulvermacher. Edith was living in Spring Green and working as a domestic when she married James Whiteis. The marriage took place at the home of J. F. Morrow in Spring Green and was performed by the Rev. Isaac B. Tracy with witnesses J. M. Prouty and Miss Edna Lamphier. The happy couple continued to live in Spring Green at an Apartment in the Chatterton cottage on Jefferson Street after their marriage.

Edith, age 56, died in Madison, Wisconsin on a Wednesday. Survivors included two daughters. Funeral services were held at Saint John's in Spring Green on Saturday with the Rev. Flad officiating. She was buried with her husband who died died two years earlier.

Biography* James M. Whiteis, 1882-1941:
James was born to a father born in Ohio and a mother born in New York. He was living in Spring Green and working as a carpenter when he married in 1914. James was a tall man of medium build with grey eyes and black hair. He and his wife continued to live in Spring Green after their marriage. He was the caretaker of the Tower Hill state park from circa 1936.

James, age 59, died in a Madison hospital on a Saturday. He was survived by his wife, two daughters, and one brother. The funeral was held on Tuesday in the Congregational church in Spring Green with the Rev. R. F. Merritt officiating. Pall bearers were Clyde and Robert Whiteis, Fred and Floyd Holly, Jos. Rupert and Geo. Whiteis.

Biography* Hazel A Whiteis, 1919-1972: Hazel was born, raised and lived in Spring Green. After her father died in 1941, she moved to Madison.

Hazel, age 52, died on a Wednesday in the Iowa County Hospital of cerebral thrombosis. She was buried with her parents. Her tombstone incorrectly lists her death year as 1973.

Biography* Michael Simon Pulvermacher, 1901-1992:
Michael farmed in Bear Creek township, Saul County. By 1971, he had retired and moved to Lone Rock in Richland County where he became a member of Sacred Heart parish.

Michael, age 91, died on a Wednesday at the Pine Valley Manor Nursing Home in Richland Center. He was survived by seven sons, two daughters, 51 grandchildren, 84 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and one brother. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son, five grandchildren, one brother, and three sisters. His funeral was held on Friday at Sacred Heart with the Rev. Bogdan Werra officiating.
