Biography* William Wuerth, 1877-????:
William was a first generation American born to German parents. At his 1900 marriage, he was working as a painter. In 1920, William and wife Anna were living in Grant township in Rusk County, Wisconsin. In 1930, they were living in Hubbard township, owned their own home valued at $4,000 and William was working as a dairy farmer. According to family lore, William was a moonshiner.

Biography* Valentine J. Betthauser, 1897-1979:
Valentine's father was born in Wisconsin, his mother in Germany. In 1918, at age twenty-one, Valentine was of medium height and build with blue eyes and light hair. He was living and farming with his parents at RFD 1, Box 16, Oakdale. At the time of his 1931 marriage, at age 34, Valentine continued to reside in his birthplace of Oakdale township, Monroe County, Wisconsin.
