| Biography* | Regina Mary Sharpe Wright, 1902-1957: According to her obituary, Regina was born in Chatfield on 23 July 1902. This is at odds with her baptismal record at Saint Mary's which lists her birthdate as 25 July 1901 and her christening date as 11 August 1901. Regina's christening was performed by the Rev S. Maddock with sponsors John and Mary Waters. After she married in 1923, Regina and her husband Leon farmed near Chatfield until 1945 when they moved to Saint Charles. They lived there until 1950 when they moved to Pine Island and then in 1956 to Owatonna. In Owatonna, Regina was employed as housemother at Cottage Number 3 at the Owatonna State School. Regina died on a Thursday at age 55. She was survived by one son, two daughters, one grandchild, and one brother. Funeral services were conducted on Saturday from Saint Mary's, Chatfield with Msgr Wm. Coleman officiating. Pallbearers were Philip Sharpe, Anthony Sharpe, Sydney Ellstrom, Joe Lawson, Cy Tuohy, and Al Sensi. |

"Dot" Shipton Boyd, 1915-2007: By 1910, Dorothy's parents had moved from a mortgaged farm in Tilden township in Cherokee County, Iowa to house they owned free of morgage at 1205 13th Street in the 1st ward of Madison, Lake County, South Dakota. Her father had changed occupations from farming to dealing real estate. Dorothy was the seventh and last child. By 1920, the family owned a house at 210 Eighth Street also in the 1st ward. Her father was now an insurance agent. By 1930, the family owned an $8,000 house at 202 Fourth Street NE also in the 1st ward. Dorothy attended Washinton State University where she graduated with a degree in physical education. She changed careers and was a bookkeeper with Plains Dairy and Darigold Dairy for 35-years. She and her husband lived in Cheyenne, Wyoming where Dot volunteered for Cheyenne Hospice and Meals on Wheels. Her husband died in 1997. Dot, age 92, died on a Sunday at Cheyenne Life Care Center in Cheyenne. She was survived by three nephews and one niece and many great-nephews and nieces. A memorial ceremony was held at Cheyenne in Schrader's Funeral Home which was officiated by the Rev. David Stratton. Donations to Cheyenne Hospice of Cheyenne Meals on Wheels were requested in lieu of flowers. Dot was cremated and the remians later buried in Madison. |

| Biography* | Lola G. Shipton Boyd, 1910-1984: Lola was the sixth child born to Frank and Ella Shipton. Four older children, three girls and a boy, were born in Iowa. The fifth, of unknown sex and birthplace, was deceased. The father Frank was born in Illinois. The mother Ella was born in Wisconsin to an Ireland born father (Lola's grandfather) and an England born mother (Lola's grandmother). In 1900 the family was living in Tilden township of Cherokee County, Iowa and the father was operating a farm he owned with mortgage. By 1910, the family was living in a home free of mortgage at 1205 13th Street in Madison's 1st ward, Lake County, South Dakota. Her father Frank was working as a real estate dealer with his own office. In 1920 the family owned a home at 210 Eighth Street also in Madison's 1st ward. Lola's father Frank was working as an insurance agent. In 1930, the family owned an $8,000 house at 202 Fourth Street NE also in Madison's 1st ward. Lola graduated from Madison High School and attended Eastern Normal in Madison. After her schooling, she worked as a bookkeeper at J. C. Penney's in Madison for more than 30-yrs. Lola was a member of Madison Community Hospital Auxiliary, Rebekah Lodge, where she was past noble grand, the Town & Country Garden Club and the Ten_Penney Club. She was an active member of Grace Episcopal Church where she was treasurer for many years. Lola, age 74, died on a Sunday in Sioux Valley Hospital. She was survived by a sister, Dorothy Boyd of Cheyenee, WY and several nieces and nephews. Lola was predeceased by her husband, parents, brother Wesley, and three sisters: Ethel, Alice and Eunice. Memorials requested to Grace Episcopal Church in lieu of flowers. Services were held on Thursday at Grace Episcopal Church officiated by the Rev. Stephen Hall. |

| Biography* | Ida Elizabeth Spieker Touhy, 1894-1928: According to her obituary, Ida was born "at Brownerville, Minnesota". A town by this name does not exist in Minnesota. Her birth place was probably Browerville in Todd County. Ida attended schools in "Brownerville" later graduating from Melrose High School (which is located in the next county south of Todd, i.e., Stearns). Ida continued her studies at the Minneapolis School of Music and the University, completing the course at both institutions. She served as music supervisor in the Slayton schools for one year and for two years was in charge of the music department of the Chatfield schools. Ida married Leo Tuohy at Melrose in 1922 and went to live on the Tuohy farm Chatfield. Ida died in hospital on a Monday after a brief illness. She was survived by her husband, four children, her mother, two brothers, and three sisters. Her funeral was held from Saint Mary's on Thursday. The Rev Coleman officiated. |

| Biography* | Andrew J. Steffensen, 1886-1975: Andrew, who became a U.S. citizen in 1895, was not listed with his parents in 1900. His parents were living in Grafton township, McHenry County, Illinois. In 1920, Andrew was farming in Greenwood Township. Later, he was a partner in the Steffensen and White Auto Agency in Woodstock. And still later operated Steffensen Standard Service for many years until retiring in 1948. After retirement Andrew was employed for a short time at the Rose Farm. He was a member of the Men's Garden Club in Woodstock for many years. Andrew, formerly of 510 Dean Street in Woodstock, died on a Monday at the Florence Nursing Home in Marengo. He was 88. Andrew was survived by his wife, grandson, granddaughter, five great-grandchildren, one brother, and three sisters. He was preceded in death by a daughter, three brothers, and two sisters. The funeral was held on Wednesday at St Mary's Catholic church and officiated by the Rev. William I. Joffe. Arrangements were made by Schneider, Leucht, Merwin, and Cooney. |

| Biography* | Andrew Sullivan, 1859-1889: Andrew left the family home before his 21st birthday. About 1880 he began working as a collector on the line of boats in and about the harbor of Hudson, New York. By 1889, he was Captain of the steamers Isabella and Eloise owned by the Hudson Catskill Ferry Company. He also belonged to the Hudson Fire Department. Andrew died on a Wednesday at his home after an illness of a week. In respect to his memory, all boats displayed their flags at half mast on Thursday. His funeral was held on Saturday from his residence and then from Saint Mary's. |

| Biography* | Margaret Sullivan Smith, 1893-1966: Born in Columbia County, New York, Margaret moved to Bridgeport in Fairfield County, Connecticut circa 1927 where she was employed by the General Electric Company (GE). At GE, Margaret worked in department 23C of the fan motor section (Section A). By 1929, she had risen to forewoman. She lived at 643 Boston Avenue when she arrived in Bridgeport and a year later moved to 89 Beecher. In 1929, she married Edward J. Smith, also a foreman at GE, and moved to 164 Wood Avenue in Stratford. In 1935, the couple moved to 174 Wood Avenue. Margaret died on a Saturday at Saint Vincent's Hospital. She was survived by one son, one step-son, and one step-granddaughter. Her funeral was held on Monday from the William R. McDonald Funeral Home in Stratford and then from Saint James Church. She was buried, beside her husband, in the cemetery next to the Methodist church. There is no tombstone. Her only son Edward is buried next to them also without a stone. |
