Biography* Patrick Mulcahy, ca1866-1901:
Patrick's civil marriage record lists his birthplace as Sun Prairie. His father's obituary suggests that Sun Prairie was his birthplace as well. However, he was most likely born in the town of Burke, the fifth of eleven and the fourth son. Sometime before 1893, Patrick went to work for the railroad as a brakeman. Also, by that time, he had moved to Baraboo in Sauk County. In 1900, he was living at 411 Locke in Baraboo City.

Patrick, 33, was found decapitated beside the tracks on a Thursday morning about three a.m. He had gone to Winona on the Northwestern No. 63. It is presumed that, overcome by heat, he fell off the train and was struck by another passing train. He had recently purchased a farm between Baraboo and Devil's Lake and had intended to quit railroading in about two months. Patrick's body was brought back to Baraboo on train No. 4. His funeral was held on Saturday from Saint Joseph's church.

According to his obituary, Steven was born in the town of West Point in Columbia County, Wisconsin. However, a month before Steven's birth, his parents were living in the town of Dane in Dane County. Although his mother may have been from West Point, it's more likely that Steven was born in Dane. Steven farmed in the Dane area until his retirement. After that he worked for Terra Fertilizer in Dane.

Steven died unexpectedly on a Tuesday at a Madison hospital. He was 71. Survivors included his wife, four daughters, three sons, 16 grandchildren, four sisters, and two brothers. Funeral services were held on Friday at the United Church of Christ in Dane with pastor Rev. Lowell Ferris officiating.

Note*10 Mar 1949 obituary Waunakee (Wisconsin) Tribune, Thursday 10 March 1949.4
Biography* Thomas Mulcahy, c1864-1949:
No clear evidence of Thomas' birthdate has been discovered. The date ranges from the 15 June 1862 listed by his daughter Marie (Mrs Amos Loff) in his Columbia County death record to 1869 in the 1920 census. Although Thomas almost certainly was born in Hudson, New York, there is, unfortunately, no christening record for him at Saint Mary's church there. He probably was born in 1864, the fourth of eleven and the third son. Thomas farmed in the town of Dane for forty years. In 1920, he was living in Sauk City Village, Sauk County and working as a laborer at a lumber company.

Thomas, about 85, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs Amos Loff, Lodi, on a Monday after a lingering illness. Funeral services were held on Wednesday from Saint Michael's in Dane with the Rev. Anthony Reinl officiating and Rev. H. Doherty assisting. Pallbearers were William Madigan, Jack Karls, Peter Karls, Chris Koch, Wolfgang Karls, and Joe Jacobson.
