Biography* Margaret McCarthy, 1784-1862:
On 1 June 1855, Margaret, age 70, was living in the Town of Claverack, Columbia County, New York. She was a widowed head-of-household and all seven of her known children were living with her. Her oldest child was listed at age 35 and her youngest at 22. Using these ages, Margaret was 35 when her oldest was born and 48 when her youngest was born. It's possible that she delivered her first born before age 35 and that there were other, older, children. Its also possible that Margaret was older than the age listed in the record. In 1860, she was living in Hudson's fourth ward with her daughter and son-in-law Margaret and Thomas Sullivan.

Margaret died on a Saturday of marasmus.
