Death*31 Aug 1996 Bremerton, Kitsap, Washington (WA), United States (US)1
Biography* James F. Sanders, 1911-1996:
James was born and raised in Sioux Falls, to parents born in Minnesota. The family lived at 712 West Third Street until 1927. At that time, the family moved to 312 North Prairie Avenue. James graduated from the South Dakota School of Mines in 1936. Jobs were hard to find in those times and even an engineer with a college degree took whatever he could find. His first job after graduation was as assayer at the Old Uncle Sam Mine in Roubaix, South Dakota about ten miles south of Deadwood. After two months he left the mine and worked for the Montana-Dakota Gas Company in Deadwood for two days. Next he signed on as a surveyor with the Indian Service at the Rosebud Indian Reservation. The reservation is located about 200 miles southeast of Rapid City, South Dakota. The closest "full service" town is Valentine, Nebraska about thirty miles away. The following spring, James headed off for his next adventure - the copper mines in Butte, Montana. Later, he returned to Sioux Falls and joined the family plumbing construction business. After he retired, he and wife Dorothy moved to Mitchell, South Dakota. Later, they moved to Bremerton, Washington.

James, age 84, died on a Saturday.

Biography* Sheridan D. "Red" Scarborough, 1885-1933:
Most sources list Florida as Sheridan's birthplace but there are discrepancies about where in Florida. One source lists Marion County, another Jacksonville in Duval County. In 1900, his widowed mother Mary, age 45, born in Florida, is renting a farm in Sanderson, Baker County. Mary has born 11 children, nine of whom are living and all living with her. Sheridan is the fourth oldest of those alive. His deceased father was born in Georgia. Sheridan married in Sauk County, Wisconsin in 1915. According to family lore, Red was in the United States military where he became friends with Edward Kelly who also migrated to Sauk County, Wisconsin and married the sister of Red's wife. Red and family moved to Dodgeville, Iowa from Mellen in 1927.

Red, age 47, a tailor and dry cleaner, died suddenly at home on a Monday of chronic myocarditis, endocarditis and influenza. He was survived by two children ages 19 and 11, his wife having died three years earlier. Funeral services were held from the Lulloff funeral home on Wednesday morning with the Rev. Homer McGuire officiating.
