Biography* Jennie Leonard McGovern, 1864-1952:
There is no direct evidence of Jenny's birth. Her tombstone lists her birth year as 1871, yet the cemetery record lists her age at death as 86 which does not compute. She immigrated to the U.S.A. circa 1879 and was living with her sister and brother-in-law in Woburn, Massachusetts in 1880. Naturalized in 1906, Jennie worked as a servant and lived at 36 Salem Street, Woburn in 1900. Jennie was married late in life to Francis McGovern whose first wife died in 1905. Jennie and Francis had no children. The McGovern home was at 34 Lewis Avenue in Arlington, Massachusetts.

Jenny, age about 87, died on a Friday. She was buried in the McGovern family plot with her husband, his first wife and others. Did not find an obit in the local paper. Should search Worcester and Milford papers.

Biography* Margaret Leonard Green, ca1860-1934:
There is no record of Margaret's christening in Cleenish parish records. She married Eugene Green in 1879 so have assumed that she was born before brother John in 1861 and after her parent's marriage in 1857. Her age was listed as 20-years-old in the 1880 census, which if accurate, would put her birth in the 2nd-half of 1859 or the 1st-half of 1860. Margaret and Eugene were married by the Rev. J. McQuaid, with witnesses Patrick Gilgun of Belcoo and Brigid Reilly of Cornagee.

Margaret, age about 73, died at her home at 19 Arthur Street on a Sunday. She was survived by six sons (including adopted son Herbert L. Maguire), two daughters, one brother, and three sisters. Her funeral was held from the house on Wednesday followed by solemn high mass at St. Stephen's.

Biography* Mary Anne Leonard Farmer, 1874-1952:
Mary Anne's civil birth record lists her birth date as 25 November 1874. Unlikely since she was christened two months earlier. She was christened in Cleenish parish on 24 September 1874 by the Rev. L. Keenan, and sponsored by Hugh Farmer and Bridget Lally. After her marriage, she and James lived in Gortatole. At some time prior to 1952, they moved to Rathgean, Ballintogher in County Sligo where they lived with their son Patrick.

Mary Anne, age 77, died in Surgical hospital, Sligo on a Wednesday. She died of shock caused by extensive burns accidentally recieved while using petrol near a lighted candle in her bedroom at her son's house. She was buried

(the following article was reprinted w/o permission from The Sligo Champion, Saturday, 09 Feb 1952, pg.01 [Vol. 115, No. 6]):
MOTHER DIES FROM BURNS
SON IN HOSPITAL
A verdict of death from shock caused by extensive burns accidentally received while using petrol near a lighted candle, was recorded at an inquest held at Sligo County Hospital on Thursday on Mrs. Mary Ann Farmer, aged 77, of Rathgean, Ballintogher, Co. Sligo, who died eleven hours after being admitted to hospital.
Her son, Patrick Farmer, stationmaster at Ballintogher, is confined to bed in the hospital suffering from burns which he sustained when he went to the assistance of his mother.
Giving evidence from his bed, he said his mother had been confined to bed for the past fortnight. At about 3.30 on Wednesday morning he was awakened by a noise and went to his mother’s room which was in flames. His mother was in the middle of the floor with her nightdress on fire. He wrapped a blanket round her and carried her to the kitchen. With his father’s help he then quelled the flames.
His mother kept bottles of Holy Water in her room. Last November he got her a small quantity of petrol as a rub for rheumatism. He believed that she mistook the petrol bottle for a Holy Water bottle and that when she sprinkled it in the room the petrol was ignited by a lighted candle which she had on the table.

Biography* Patrick Leonard, 1872-bef1934?:
Patrick was born on 22 April 1872 according to his civil birth record. This birthdate is almost six weeks after his christening. He was christened on 12 March 1872 at Cleenish by the Rev. John O'Done with sponsors James McGrath and Marget McBarron.

Patrick was informant on his father's death record in 1893. He would have been 21 at the time. He is not listed in County Fermanagh in the 1901 census. Patrick may be deceased by 1901 or living in another county - like, Sligo or Cavan? He never went to the U.S.A. as far as we know. He is not mentioned in his sister's 1934 obituary.
