| Biography* | Riley John Beaver, 1878-1956: Riley's father was born in Pennsylvania, his mother, like himself, in Iowa. His birth mother died by the time Riley was 2-years-old. His father was married again, when Riley was four, to Elisabeth Hess. Elisabeth was a native of Jägersburg and a third-cousin of Riley's eventual father-in-law, Balthasar Neuheisel. Riley grew up in Spring Green, Wisconsin. By the time of his 1902 marriage he was farming in Keyesville in Richland County. By 1918, he was farming in Clifton township in Monroe County. At that time, at age 30, Riley was of medium height and build with gray eyes and dark hair. His address was listed as route 2, Kendall. Riley, a retired farmer, died on a Tuesday of an acute cerebral hemorrhage. He was one day short of his 78th birthday. Riley was survived by his wife, three sons, one daughter, sixteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two brothers, and five sisters. His funeral was held on Thursday from Saint Patrick's in Elroy. |
