Biography* Theresia Emser Neuheisel, 1816-1876:
The sixth of twelve herself, Theresia bore 14 children to term including two multiple births. Her first pregnancy was twins both of whom died early. Following the twins, she had five single births and then triplets, followed by four more single births. Have not discovered a history of multiple births in either George nor Theresia's families so am not sure of the origin of this multiple birth gene. Seven of Theresia's siblings had children, but only one other had a multiple birth, twins. Husband George had four siblings, one of whom had children, and that sibling had one set of twins. However, the multiple birth gene survived at least into the next geneation. Eight of Theresia's children, who bore children themselves, had at least three, and possibly four, sets of twins.

Quite a few of Theresia's relatives came to the U.S.A. Why they did so is unknown. The two oldest of her seven adult siblings remained in Jägersburg. The six youngest, of which group Theresia herself was the oldest, all came to the states. At least three of the five immigrating siblings spent time near where Theresia was living. In addition, several cousins made appearances. Theresia is also known to have received communication from at least one sibling, a brother that lived in Pennsylvania. She herself could not sign her name and was presumably illiterate.

She died on a Monday, 12-days short of her 70th birthday, and was buried the same day from Saint Luke's with the Rev. C Sieghardt officiating.
