Biography* Daniel S. Shea, ca1899-1948:
Daniel was a first generation Irish-American. His father, a laborer for the city highway department, was born in Ireland. Daniel's mother was a first generation Irish-American herself who was born in Massachusetts. The family owned a mortgaged triplex at 24 Gage street in Worcester's 3rd ward. They occupied one apartment and rented out the other two. By 1920, they had bought, with mortgage, another triplex (unknown if they sold the Gage Street property) at 40 Kingsbury Street in the 8th ward. They used the same living arrangement where they occupied one apartment and rented the other two. Daniel worked as a freight clerk for the B & A Railroad for 31-years. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and the Holy Name Society of Saint Paul's church.

Daniel, age 49, died at his home, 40 Kingsbury Street, on a Tuesday. He had been ill since September 1947. Daniel was survived by his wife, two brothers, three sisters, and several nieces and nephews. His funeral was held on Thursday from McCrea funeral home, 921 Main Street, followed by high mass at Saint Paul's.
