| Biography* | Sophie Wilsman Walsh, 1885-1942: The second of seven and the first daughter, Sophia was a first generation German-American who grew up at 903 Destrehan Street in St Louis 2nd ward. Her parents immigrated in 1884 and her father was a carpenter. After her marriage she lived with her husband at several different addresses in the 3100 block of North 12th Street in the 2nd ward. Sophia, a resident of 3119 Hadley Blvd, St Louis, died on a Friday at DePaul hospital, St Louis at age 56. Her death cert reported her birth date as 04 July 1886 and her age at death as 55. Most evidence suggests Sophia was actually born in 1885. And if true, as recorded here, she was 56. Sophia was survived by her husband, two daughters, two sons, a sister, two brothers, and others. Cause of death was a cerebral heorrhage. Her physician was Dr. Wayne O. Goola, 2739 North Grand. Sophia's funeral was held on Monday from Our Lady of Good Counsel. W. A. Stock Mortuary, Grand & Florissant, was in charge. |

| Biography* | Ella E. Wood Walsh, 1880-1953: Ella was born in Missouri to a father born in London, England and a mother born in Ireland. In 1880, the family was living at 711 Biddle Street in St. Louis. Her father was a stonecutter. In 1900, the father was living as a roomer at 1402 Collins Street in the 3rd ward. The mother, who has borne 8 children, 4 of whom are living, was living with Ella, at 1410 Ninth also in the 3rd ward. Both parents are listed as married. In 1910, Ella and husband Peter Walsh are living at 3904 North 11th Street in the 2nd ward. In 1920, at 3336 Blair Avenue, St. Louis. And in 1930, they own a $5,000 duplex at 3107 12th Street in the 3rd ward. Their son William rents one of the apartments. The widow Ella, of 734 Baden Avenue, died on a Saturday at Barnes Hospital, St. Louis. She was 73 years of age (her death cert incorrectly lists her birth year as 1883). Cause of death was acute myocardial infarction and heart disease. Ella was attended by Dr. F. R. Bradley, Barnes Hospital. She was survived by two sons, a sister, and others. Ella's funeral was held on Tuesday from Holy Cross Church. Stock Mortuary, Grand and Florissant Avenues, was in charge of arrangements. |

| Biography* | Josephine Zeni Cody, 1908-1979: Probably born in Benld Village, Cahokia township, Macoupin County, Illinois, Josephine was a first generation Austrian-American whose parents both spoke Italian. Her father immigrated to the U.S. in 1892, her mother in 1898. In 1910 the family owned their home free of mortgage on Locust Street in Benld and Josephine had three older brothers. Three other children were deceased. Her father worked as a coal miner. By 1920, two more brothers and three sisters had been added to the family. Josephine died on a Monday at age 71. She was survived by four sisters: Anne Vegher, Mary Bach, Emma Shea, and Agnes Zeni; and three brothers: Henry, Charles, Lester Zeni. She was predeceased of her husband Thomas Cody and two brothers: Guido and Joseph A Zeni. Josephine's funeral was held privately on Wednesday from Saints John & James church. |

| Biography* | Frank J. Zimmerman, 1901-2003: In 1930, Frank was living with his widowed mother Margaret at 5122 Highland (formerly Spalding) Avenue in Saint Louis' 22nd ward. Margaret owned the house which was valued at $8,500. Frank was working as a clerk in a drug store. According to family lore, he went on to become a druggist himself. Frank died on a Saturday at age 102. He was survived by his daughter, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. The funeral was held from Saint Raphael's on Wednesday. Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary, 6464 Chippewa at Watson, was in charge of arrangements. |
