Biography* Albert W. Otten, 1913-1983:
Albert's parents were both born in Missouri. His paternal grandfather and both maternal grandparents were born in Germany. His paternal grandmother was born in Missouri. In 1930, at age 16, Albert was working as a bank clerk. His father Henry was an interior minister. The family lived at 447 San Francisco Avenue in Saint Louis 22nd ward.

Albert spent some time in California. His Social Security Number was issued there (Social Security was enacted in 1935). He retired from Continental Can Company and was a member of Corpus Christi parish in Jennings and the Corpus Christi Holy Name Society.

Albert died on a Sunday. He was survived by his wife, two daughters, three sons, three sisters, and one brother. The funeral was held on Wednesday from Corpus Christi. Buchholz mortuary, 5967 W. Florrisant Avenue was in charge.

Biography* Ethel Pickens O'Brien, 1887-1948:
Born in Missouri to a father born in Kentucky and a mother born in Missouri, Ethel was married circa 1904 to Cleveland Whitehead. In 1910, they owned a farm at Bloomfield and Poplar Bluff Roads in Caster township, Stoddard County, Missouri. Her parents owned a farm at Bloomfield and Alhambra Roads. By 1930, she had married for a second time to Michael O'Brien. She and Michael were living at 2565 Benton Street in St. Louis 18th ward. None of her five children by Cleveland Whitehead were living with them.

Ethel, 60 years-old and a resident of 4218a St. Louis Street, died on a Thursday at Missouri Baptist Hospital. Cause of death was a cerebral accident and hypertension. Ethel's physician was Dr. C. H Kilker, 3121 North Grand. She was survived by her second husband, five children, her father of Lipeer, Michigan, siblings, grandchildren and others. Ethel's funeral was held on Monday from St. Matthew's Church. Cullinane Bros. Funeral Home, 3320 North Kingshighway was in charge.

By 1910, John is married and living at the same address as his mother-in-law, that is, 2904 12th Street in St Louis' 3rd ward. John is employed as a varnisher at a furniture factory. In 1917, when he registers for the WWI draft, John is of medium height and slender build with gray eyes and black hair. He is employed as a painter at Scoriett-Comstock Fur Company, Main & Dock Streets. By 1920, the couple is renting at 4267 North 20th Street in the 1st ward and John is working as a salesman at a grocery. By 1930, they are renting at 3800 Lee Avenue in the 21st ward for $75/month. John is now a proprietor of a grocery store. His wife Ellen died in 1935 and nothing more is known about him.

In 1880, Edward lived with his parents at 1104 North 25th Street in St Louis. In 1900, married and with a son, the family is living with Edward's father-in-law at 3129 North 12th Street in the 2nd ward. Edward is employed as a plumber. In 1910, they own their home, free of mortgage, at 3027 North Taylor Avenue in the 23rd ward. Edward know plumbs for the city. By 1918, Edward, a tall man of stout build with blue eyes and gray hair, is Secretary of the Monument Plumbing Supply Corp at 2649 Locust Street. By 1920, he is a salesman at a plumbing company and their house is mortgaged. Edward was member of Local No 35, Journeyman Plumbers of United Assoc, A. F. L. and of the Contracting Plumbers Assoc.

Edward, a resident of 4863 Bessie Avenue, died at home on a Saturday. He was 67. Cause of death was pulmonary infract myocardial failure. The attending physician was Dr. John J Losti?, 4703 Carter Avenue. Edward was survived by his wife, two sons, a daughter, three brothers and two sisters. His funeral was held on Monday from St Engelbert's Church. Stroot-Carroll Funeral Home, 4600 Natural Bridge Avenue, was in charge.

Marie, of 4567 Harris Avenue in St. Louis, died at home on a Monday, age 47. Cause of death was breast cancer with metastasis. Her physician was Dr. John J Forti, 4703 Carter Avenue. Marie was survived by her husband, three children and two brothers. Marie's funeral was held on Friday at St. Engelbert's Church and was officiated by her second cousin, the Most Rev. John P. Cody. Stroot-Carroll Funeral Home, 4600 Natural Bridge Avenue, was in charge.
