By 1930, the family lived at 1812 Cora Avenue in the 22nd ward and Blanche, age 24, was working as a saleslady at a dry goods store. Dolly, age 80, died on a Thursday. She was survived by her brother, sister-in-law, and step-children. The funeral was held on Monday from Saint Justin the Martyr church. Michael Fitzgerald mortuary, 4580 S Lindbergh at Gravios was in charge. |

| Biography* | John Henry Mertens, 1882-1946: A first generation German-American whose mother was born in Iowa, John and wife Blanche were renting a duplex at 3129 North 12th Street in St Louis 2nd ward. His parents were living in the other half of the duplex. John was employed as manager of an ice plant. In 1918, he was a tall man, 6_feet-2_inches in height, of stout build with grey eyes and black hair. John was employed as an ice-puller by Theo W Mertens at 12th & Palm? In 1920 he was employed as a teamster by a transfer company. By 1930, the family was renting at 1812 Cora Avenue in the 22nd ward. John was employed at general hauling for a brick & sand company. At the time of his death, John was employed as maintenance man at Delmar Bowling Alley. John, age 63, a resident of 4464 Wallace Avenue in St Louis, died at home on a Sunday. Cause of death was aortic stenosis and cardiac hypertrophy per Dr. Patrick E. Taylor, Deputy Coroner. He was survived by his wife, two children, siblings, in-laws and nieces/nephews. John's funeral was held on Thursday at St. John the Baptist Church. Kriegshauser Mortuary, 4228 S Kingshighway, was in charge of arrangements. |

Klinkerfuss, 340 Bermuda Avenue. She was survived by her two children, a sister, and a brother. Blanche's funeral was held on Monday from St. Ann's in Normandy. Cullen - Kelly Funeral Home, 7267 Natural Bridge was in carge of arrangements. |

By 1930, they had moved to 7422 Florissant Road, Normandy, St. Louis County. On 09 December 1942, Donald enlisted in the Air Corps as a Private at Ann Arbor, Michigan. He was a single college student with no dependents. Donald married in 1952 at age 34. Donald, a resident of Ballwin, St. Louis County, died on Sunday. He was 79 years old. |

In 1900, at 3727 North 14th Street in the 2nd ward (the numbers are the same!). In 1910, Henry, his wife and daughters were renting at 3129 North 12th Street (a duplex) in the 2nd ward. He was employed as a water inspector by the city. In 1918, when Henry registered for the draft, he was employed as a teamster with the P. Walsh Transfer Co. He had grown to be a tall man of medium build with blue eyes and light brown hair. Henry signed the registration Henry John Muckermann (with 2 'n's). In 1920, the family was living at 3107 12th Street in the 2nd ward. Henry was working as an ice merchant for and ice & coal co. His father-in-law, Peter Walsh, was living with the family. By 1930, they owned a $14,000 house at 7422 Florissant Road, Normandy, St Louis County. Henry had retired but later he was employed as a watchman at St Louis County Hospital. Henry, a resident of 7414 Florissant Road, Normandy, died at home on a Sunday. He was 64. Cause of death was coronary thrombosis-arteriosclerosis. Henry was attended by Dr. Geo. H. Klinkerfuss, 340 Bermuda Avenue. He was survived by his wife, three children and two grandchildren. Henry's funeral was held on Thursday from St Ann's, Normandy. Cullen & Kelly Funeral Home, 7267 Natural Bridge, was in charge. |

She was survived a brother and two nieces and a nephew. Lillian's funeral was held on wednesday from St Ann's Church. Drehmann-Harral Funeral Home, 7733 Natural Bridge, was in charge. |

| Biography* | Mary Ellen Murphy Cody, 1902-1978: Mary Ellen was born on Cameron? Street in Coburg to a father born in County Cork, Ireland and a mother born in Coburg. Her father Daniel was a blacksmith. At her 1929 marriage, Mary Ellen was living at 199 Moreland Road in Coburg and working as a saleswoman. Mary Ellen, 75, a resident of 28 Ellenvale Avenue, Pascoe Vale South died on a Saturday. Cause of death was ascite (abnormal fluid buildup in the abdomen), liver disease, chronic pancreatitis, cardiac myopathy (disease of the heart muscle) and myocardial fibrosis (heart muscle scarring?). Coroner H. W. Pascoe ordered Mary Ellen to be buried without inquest. Her son J. Cody of Rutherglen was the informant on the death cert. Mary Ellen was predeceased by her husband and was survived by her three children. The funeral was held the following Thursday. |
