Probably from Doneraile parish because that's where she was married. No further info.

Mary died on a Friday at age 80. She was listed as the widow of a laborer. The informant was her daughter Johannah, also a resident of Annagh (she marked the record).
     The facts we know beg several questions - what were Mary's circumstances? How did she survive in Annagh for ten-years after her husband died? Her two known sons both went to America after their father died. One of these was back in Ireland by 1901 and living in Kilbolane parish. Was the Annagh farm still in the family from 1884-to-1894? And, if yes, who was operating it? And, if not, who was supporting Mary and how?

Biography* Margaret B. McMahan Cody, 1835-1917:
Not much is known about Margaret. She was born in Madison County, Illinois to a father born in Pennsylvania and a mother born in Illinois. Margaret bore nine children only six of which are known or been identified.

She died on a Saturday at age 82. Margaret's funeral was held from her daughter's house at 3945 Castleman Ave on Monday followed by services at Saint Margaret's church. Burial Calvary. Funeral private.

Biography* Blanche E. "Dolly" Mertens Glaub, 1905-1986:
Christened Elizabeth Blanche Mertens, she was known as Blanche. One of her christening sponsors was Elizabeth Mertens (her father's sister? his mother?). Blanche grew up at 3129 North 12th Street in St. Louis 2nd ward. By 1930, the family lived at 1812 Cora Avenue in the 22nd ward and Blanche, age 24, was working as a saleslady at a dry goods store.

Dolly, age 80, died on a Thursday. She was survived by her brother, sister-in-law, and step-children. The funeral was held on Monday from Saint Justin the Martyr church. Michael Fitzgerald mortuary, 4580 S Lindbergh at Gravios was in charge.

Biography* John Henry Mertens, 1882-1946:
A first generation German-American whose mother was born in Iowa, John and wife Blanche were renting a duplex at 3129 North 12th Street in St Louis 2nd ward. His parents were living in the other half of the duplex. John was employed as manager of an ice plant. In 1918, he was a tall man, 6_feet-2_inches in height, of stout build with grey eyes and black hair. John was employed as an ice-puller by Theo W Mertens at 12th & Palm? In 1920 he was employed as a teamster by a transfer company. By 1930, the family was renting at 1812 Cora Avenue in the 22nd ward. John was employed at general hauling for a brick & sand company. At the time of his death, John was employed as maintenance man at Delmar Bowling Alley.

John, age 63, a resident of 4464 Wallace Avenue in St Louis, died at home on a Sunday. Cause of death was aortic stenosis and cardiac hypertrophy per Dr. Patrick E. Taylor, Deputy Coroner. He was survived by his wife, two children, siblings, in-laws and nieces/nephews. John's funeral was held on Thursday at St. John the Baptist Church. Kriegshauser Mortuary, 4228 S Kingshighway, was in charge of arrangements.
